A Federação União Progressista, que uniu os partidos União Brasil e PP, decidiu em reunião em Brasília na noite desta quarta-feira (18) apoiar a reeleição da governadora Raquel Lyra (PSD).
No encontro na sede da Federação estavam presentes, além da própria governadora, o presidente nacional da Federação, Antônio Rueda, o secretário-geral ACM Neto, os deputados federais Mendonça Filho e Fernando Filho e o ex-prefeito de Petrolina, Miguel Coelho (todos filiados ao União Brasil). O presidente nacional do PP, senador Ciro Nogueira, não estava presente mas segundo Rueda e ACM concordou com a decisão.
Uma das fontes presentes informou que a direção nacional entendeu que, como está no estatuto da mesma e foi alegado em petição enviada ao partido pelo deputado Mendonça Filho, os dois partidos se dividiram no estado com o PP negociando com o prefeito João Campos e o União decidindo apoiar Raquel, caberia à Nacional desempatar o jogo e venceu a tese de que como o PP até agora faz parte da administração estadual onde ingressou desde a posse da governadora e o União Brasil está se incorporando ao mesmo processo ao lado de Raquel, não havia sentido adotar outro caminho.
Não se tratou de formação da chapa mas ficou subentendido que a Federação terá uma vaga na majoritária. No momento o nome que se sobressai é o de Miguel Coelho. O deputado federal Mendonça Filho também é considerado na composição. Em um dia que acabou com dificuldades para a governadora Raquel Lyra quando o prefeito João Campos convenceu Marília Arraes e Sílvio Filho a ficar a seu lado, a conquista da Federação é, do ponto de vista político, muito importante pois os dois partidos têm 106 deputados federais e o maior tempo de TV da eleição deste ano.
