Reuters - O governo Trump emitiu nesta sexta-feira uma isenção de sanções de 30 dias para a compra de petróleo iraniano no mar para aliviar as pressões de fornecimento de energia desde o início da guerra dos EUA e Israel contra o Irã, disse o secretário do Tesouro norte-americano, Scott Bessent.
Essa foi a terceira vez que os EUA suspenderam temporariamente as sanções em cerca de duas semanas. Os EUA já haviam aliviado as sanções sobre o petróleo russo e, nesta sexta-feira, emitiram uma licença geral que permite a venda de petróleo bruto iraniano e produtos petrolíferos carregados em navios de 20 de março a 19 de abril, de acordo com a licença publicada no site do Departamento do Tesouro.
"Ao desbloquear temporariamente esse suprimento existente para o mundo, os Estados Unidos levarão rapidamente cerca de 140 milhões de barris de petróleo para os mercados globais, expandindo a quantidade de energia mundial e ajudando a aliviar as pressões temporárias sobre o suprimento causadas pelo Irã", disse Bessent em um comunicado no X.
"Em essência, estaremos usando os barris iranianos contra Teerã para manter o preço baixo enquanto continuamos a operação Fúria Épica", disse Bessent.
