Quatro ambulâncias pertencentes a uma organização judaica foram incendiadas em frente a uma sinagoga na região de Golders Green, em Londres, na madrugada desta segunda-feira (23). O incidente que está sendo tratado como um crime de ódio antissemita, segundo a polícia local.
Imagens de câmeras de segurança compartilhadas com a CNN mostraram três indivíduos mascarados se aproximando de uma ambulância pertencente à Hatzola Northwest, uma organização voluntária que responde a emergências médicas, e ateando fogo no veículo. A ação aconteceu às 1h36 da manhã, no horário local, em frente a sinagoga Machzikei Hadath.
O Corpo de Bombeiros de Londres informou que enviou seis caminhões de bombeiros e 40 bombeiros ao local. "Vários cilindros dos veículos explodiram e quebraram janelas em um bloco de apartamentos adjacente. Não há relatos de feridos." O incêndio estava sob controle às 03h06.
O presidente da Hatzola Northwest, Shloimie Richman, confirmou à CNN que quatro ambulâncias da organização foram incendiadas, afirmando que foram "alvo deliberado de um ataque incendiário".
"Obviamente, temos receio de que isso seja um ataque direto à comunidade judaica", disse Richman.
A moradora local Charlie Richards disse que ouviu "múltiplas explosões desde as 2h da manhã". Um vídeo gravado por Richards mostrou uma grande explosão alaranjada e fumaça subindo ao céu.
"Foi iniciada uma investigação após quatro ambulâncias pertencentes ao serviço de ambulâncias da comunidade judaica terem sido incendiadas em Golders Green", disse a Polícia Metropolitana em um comunicado. "Os agentes permanecem no local e o ataque incendiário está sendo tratado como um crime de ódio antissemita."
