A escolha de Caiado, o atual governador de Goiás, vem depois de Ratinho Júnior anunciar sua desistência da corrida eleitoral.
Num comunicado divulgado agora há pouco, Ratinho disse que decidiu concluir seu mandato no Paraná até dezembro e, por isso, deixou de participar da discussão interna do PSD sobre o candidato para as eleições presidenciais.
"A decisão foi tomada na noite deste domingo, após profunda reflexão com sua família. O fato foi levado ao conhecimento do presidente nacional do PSD, Gilberto Kassab, nesta segunda," disse a nota.
O comunicado diz ainda que Ratinho justificou a decisão alegando que tem um compromisso com o eleitorado do Paraná.
A mudança de nome é a segunda grande reviravolta nesta pré-campanha depois da desistência de Tarcísio de Freitas.
