O ator Gerson Brenner, que fez sucesso em novelas da Globo nos anos 1990, morreu na noite desta segunda-feira (23), aos 66 anos. Ele estava internado no Hospital São Luiz, na capital paulista. A causa da morte não foi revelada.
Gerson fez bastante sucesso na TV, principalmente em novelas. Começou sua carreira em 1989 em Kananga do Japão, folhetim exibido pela TV Manchete naquele ano. Ele interpretava o Dr. Marcelo. Ainda em 89 estreou na Globo na novela Top Model, bem popular na época.
Em 1990 atuou em Rainha da Sucata, em horário nobre. Ao lado de atores como Aracy Balabanian, Regina Duarte e Tony Ramos, Brenner se tornou bem conhecido do público. Ele interpretava um personagem que também se chamava Gerson e era filho de Dona Armênia (Aracy Balabanian), uma das protagonistas da trama.
Sua carreira decolou de vez depois de Rainha da Sucata e o ator passou a ser chamado para trabalhar em diversas outras produções da Globo. Fez Perigosas Peruas e Deus nos Acuda (ambas em 1992), Radical Chic e Olho no Olho (as duas de 1993), Vira Lata (1996), Corpo Dourado (1998), entre outras.
Além da Globo e Manchete, Brenner também fez novelas na Record e no, SBT. Ainda participou de outros programas como Alô, Doçura (SBT), Os Trapalhões e Você Decide.
Em 1998, quando já era bastante conhecido, Gerson sofreu um assalto e levou um tiro na cabeça. O ator sobreviveu ao disparo, mas ficou com graves sequelas. Não conseguia mais andar e nem se comunicar. Desde então ficou sob cuidados intensos por parte de seus familiares.
