Terremoto de magnitude 5,8 deixa mortos e feridos no Afeganistão

Um forte terremoto de magnitude 5,8 na escala Richter atingiu o nordeste do Afeganistão na noite desta sexta-feira, 3.
Segundo informações preliminares da Autoridade Nacional de Gestão de Desastres, ao menos oito pessoas morreram e uma criança ficou ferida na região de Gosfandari, na província de Cabul. Uma pessoa permanece desaparecida.
O abalo ocorreu por volta das 20h40 (13h10 no horário de Brasília), com epicentro localizado no distrito de Jurm, na província montanhosa de Badakhshan.
De acordo com o Serviço Geológico dos Estados Unidos (USGS), o tremor teve uma profundidade de 186 quilômetros, o que permitiu que as ondas sísmicas fossem sentidas com intensidade na capital e em diversas províncias do norte e leste do país.
Relatos oficiais indicam que, além das vítimas fatais, o sismo causou danos estruturais em distritos como Khak-e-Jabbar, onde casas e muros foram derrubados, embora sem registro de feridos nessa localidade específica.
Em resposta à emergência, o Ministério da Saúde do governo talibã determinou estado de alerta máximo em todas as instalações médicas.
Hospitais centrais e departamentos provinciais foram instruídos a garantir preparação total para receber novos feridos à medida que as equipes de resgate avançam nas áreas atingidas.
O Afeganistão é historicamente vulnerável a desastres naturais dessa natureza por estar localizado em uma zona de alta atividade sísmica, situada na interseção de importantes placas tectônicas.
