O presidente turco, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, recebeu, neste sábado (4), em Istambul, seu colega ucraniano, Volodimir Zelensky, para conversar sobre segurança energética e marítima, e também sobre os esforços para pôr fim à guerra entre Ucrânia e Rússia, informou a Presidência turca.
A visita ocorreu um dia depois de Erdogan conversar com o presidente russo, Vladimir Putin, que acusou a Ucrânia de tentar atacar o gasoduto entre a Rússia e a Turquia, que também abastece vários países europeus.
Erdogan "destacou a importância que a Turquia dá à segurança da navegação no Mar Negro e o caráter crucial da segurança do abastecimento energético", ressaltou seu gabinete.
Os dois líderes abordaram as relações bilaterais entre Turquia e Ucrânia, "os esforços de paz no conflito entre Rússia e Ucrânia, e os acontecimentos regionais e internacionais", acrescentou.
Zelensky disse que os dois líderes conversaram sobre os "passos para implementar projetos conjuntos no desenvolvimento da infraestrutura de gás, assim como de oportunidades para a exploração de jazidas de gás".
A reunião contou com forte presença policial nos arredores do luxuoso Palácio de Dolmabahçe, às margens do Bósforo, que no passado também recebeu várias rodadas de negociações entre Moscou e Kiev.
Zelensky também tinha previsto se reunir com o patriarca ecumênico Bartolomeu, líder espiritual da maioria das igrejas cristãs ortodoxas, uma semana antes da Páscoa ortodoxa, celebrada em 12 de abril na Ucrânia e na Rússia.
Kiev vem pressionando para obter uma trégua durante as festas da Páscoa ortodoxa, que inclua o cessar dos ataques contra a infraestrutura energética.
A Rússia, que busca um acerto permanente em vez de um cessar-fogo temporário, afirmou que não tinha visto nenhuma proposta "claramente formulada" por parte de Kiev.
A Ucrânia tem atacado a infraestrutura russa ao longo de mais de quatro anos de guerra, em uma tentativa de fragilizar a capacidade de Moscou de financiar sua ofensiva.
