Segundo a mídia estatal iraniana, o ataque do Exército israelense, neste sábado (4), a fábricas petroquímicas, no sudoeste do Irã, deixou ao menos cinco mortos e 170 feridos. A ofensiva foi confirmada, mais cedo, pelo primeiro-ministro de Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu.
De acordo com a CNN, o premiê israelense afirmou que o ataque faz parte do esforço para "derrotar o regime terrorista em Teerã". Segundo ele, a produção petroquímica funciona, hoje, como uma das principais fontes de financiamento do governo iraniano.
Complexo petroquímico atingido fica em Mahshahr. De acordo com o Irã, houve um incêndio no local após o ataque, já controlado. A região fica a 900 km de Teerã e a 100 km do Estreito de Ormuz, que teve o tráfego de navios com cargas essenciais liberado hoje, segundo agência de notícias estatal do Irã.
A área é um dos centros industriais mais importantes do Irã, segundo o New York Times, sendo responsável por uma parcela substancial da produção petroquímica do país persa.
A ofensiva resultou em ao menos cinco mortes, diz Teerã. De acordo com a BBC, a informação foi divulgada pela mídia estatal iraniana. Além disso, 170 pessoas ficaram feridas no ataque, que aconteceu no começo deste sábado, pelo horário local.
