O Departamento de Segurança Interna dos Estados Unidos entra em uma paralisação parcial a partir da madrugada deste sábado (14).
O evento acontece depois que o financiamento anual do setor expirou. O prazo ia até meia-noite desta sexta-feira (13) — 2h de sábado no horário de Brasília.
A situação é resultado do impasse entre republicanos e democratas, que não chegaram a um consenso sobre reformas na aplicação das leis de imigração.
Senadores democratas votaram para bloquear um projeto de lei de financiamento para o DHS, na sigla antes do prazo final, o que já tinha aumentado as chances de uma paralisação da agência que administra, dentre outros núcleos, a FEMA, a TSA, a Guarda Costeira e o ICE.
