Um homem de 39 anos se matou dentro de uma cela na Delegacia Especializada de Atendimento à Mulher (Deam), no Bairro Barro Preto, Região Centro-Sul de Belo Horizonte (MG), na manhã deste sábado (18/4). Athila Rei Freitas Viana foi preso no dia anterior após a mãe dele, de 68 anos, relatar à Polícia Militar (PM) que havia sido agredida pelo filho.
Segundo informado pelos pais à polícia, episódios de violência e ameaças contra ambos eram frequentes dentro de casa. No momento da prisão, Athila ameaçou "quebrar" não só a mãe, mas também o pai, informou a polícia.

Conforme registrado no boletim de ocorrência da Polícia Civil, o homem foi encontrado pendurado na cela, com uma camisa amarrada no pescoço. Imediatamente foram feitas manobras de reanimação cardiopulmonar. O Serviço de Atendimento Móvel de Urgência (Samu) foi acionado e confirmou a morte no local.
Com isso, pouco antes das 16h deste sábado, a juíza Juliana Beretta Kirche Ferreira Pinto — destacando que "resta prejudicada a realização da audiência de custódia" — assinou decisão determinando expedição de ofício ao Instituto Médico-Legal (IML). A juíza pediu o encaminhamento da certidão de óbito e, caso seja possível, o laudo de exame necroscópico.

Athila Rei Freitas Viana foi preso pela Polícia Militar no Bairro Nova Suíça, Região Oeste de Belo Horizonte, no fim da tarde de sexta-feira (17/4). O pai de Athila disse que o filho estava muito agressivo dentro do imóvel.
A mãe contou que foi agredida pelo filho com um cabo de vassoura. O marido interveio e conseguiu evitar que ela levasse um tapa logo em seguida. Com medo, o casal pediu abrigo na casa de um vizinho.
O pai, inclusive, afirmou também já ter sido agredido por Athila em outras ocasiões. Nesse sentido, a mãe acrescentou que ameaças e agressões eram constantes. Temendo a morte, o casal disse que não conseguia dormir.

Os militares, então, foram ao imóvel do casal. Athila resistiu à prisão e desacatou os policiais ao abaixar as calças e mostrar as partes íntimas. De acordo com a PM, ele falou que em breve estaria em casa e, assim, iria "quebrar" a mãe e o pai. "Pai, você quer um filho ou um inimigo?", indagou o homem, de acordo com a PM. De lá, ele foi encaminhado à delegacia, onde acabou cometendo suicídio.
