Em nota enviada ao Metrópoles, o Itaú afirmou que"sua participação na emissão de debêntures do Grupo Estado, em 2024, faz parte de uma operação de reestruturação de dívida preexistente, conduzida em conjunto com outros bancos de grande porte".
A nota confirma também o valor e o objetivo do negócio. "A iniciativa visa a reorganização financeira da companhia, com valor total do Itaú de R$ 15 milhões", diz. O texto ainda destaca que "a operação é estritamente de crédito de mercado, contratada em condições usuais nesse tipo de contexto, e dentro dos parâmetros regulatórios".
Por fim, o Itaú ressalta que "por sua natureza jurídica, a debênture bancária não confere ao Itaú qualquer poder administrativo, de gestão, participação em conselho ou influência sobre a linha editorial do veículo".
Acontece que a compra de debêntures não se deu em um contexto isolado, mas dentro de uma operação conjunta entre bancos e empresários com o intuito de salvar as finanças no Estadão, que acumula prejuízo de R$ 159 milhões.
Apesar dos esforços dos empresários para sanear as contas do jornal, o último balanço da empresa, publicado no dia 9 deste mês, registrou novo prejuízo de R$ 16,8 milhões no ano de 2025.
