Mendonça cancela ida a evento na Espanha após assumir caso Master
Ministro do STF avalia ser necessário preservar a sua imagem e desistiu de ir para congresso sobre governança global
O ministro André Mendonça, do STF (Supremo Tribunal Federal), decidiu cancelar viagem para evento com autoridades do mundo jurídico na Espanha para preservar a imagem de imparcialidade do tribunal. A decisão se deu logo depois de o ministro assumir a relatoria das investigações sobre fraudes na casa de R$ 50 bilhões do Banco Master.
Mendonça havia confirmado sua ida para o 2º Congresso Ibero-Brasileiro de Governança Global, que será realizado de 23 a 25 de fevereiro em Salamanca, na Espanha. No entanto, o ministro, que também é professor da Universidade de Salamanca, decidiu cancelar a presença depois de assumir a relatoria das investigações do caso Master, com o objetivo de preservar a imagem do tribunal. A avaliação é que o processo de saída do então relator, ministro Dias Toffoli, trouxe uma exposição excessiva à Corte e a seus integrantes.
O STF declarou que os custos da viagem seriam custeados integralmente pelo próprio ministro, sem recebimento de valores pelo evento, organizado pelo IBDL (Instituto Brasileiro de Direito Legislativo).
