"Você viu o que está acontecendo?", perguntava o texto, disparado direto da Venezuela. Era 3 de janeiro, uma hora da manhã no horário do Texas e três da manhã em Caracas. Ele pulou da cama e ligou a televisão. Pouco mais de duas horas depois, soube que Nicolás Maduro havia sido sequestrado em uma operação militar empreendida pelo governo Donald Trump. No dia seguinte, assistiu, embasbacado, às primeiras imagens em que o ditador venezuelano aparecia algemado, em uma base aérea em Nova York.
"Quando vi aquele homem com as algemas que na Venezuela são chamadas de el pulpo [o polvo] – porque acorrentam as mãos e os pés – cercado pelos guardas, praticamente arrastado para fora do caminhão… Foi um choque, um evento que causou emoções conflitantes na minha família e em mim", descreveu ele em conversa com a piauí. "Porque foi exatamente o que ele fez comigo", completou.
