Após mobilizações, governo federal suspende dragagem no Rio Tapajós - Brasil de Fato
Apesar da decisão, a nota oficial do governo, publicada na sexta-feira (6), nega que a suspensão esteja ligada ao Decreto 12.600, assinado em agosto de 2025. De acordo com o texto, a medida anunciada pelo Ministério de Portos e Aeroportos seria uma ação de rotina e que "não tem relação com os estudos de concessão da hidrovia".
Desde a publicação do decreto assinado pelo presidente Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, lideranças da região se colocaram contra o que classificam como uma tentativa de privatizar o rio Tapajós, que, segundo eles, já estaria contaminado por agrotóxicos usados na produção de grãos e por mercúrio utilizado em garimpos.
Desde 22 de janeiro deste ano, o movimento contra o Decreto 12.600 ganhou mais força e resultou na ocupação do terminal da empresa Cargill, em Santarém. A mobilização é liderada pelos povos do Baixo Tapajós e apoiada por povos de outras partes do rio, como os Munduruku e os Kayapó.
Sem revogar o decreto, a nota do governo federal reforça que a possível instalação das hidrovias precisam respeitar os compromissos firmados durante a COP30, em novembro. "Todo e qualquer empreendimento vinculado à Hidrovia do Rio Tapajós será precedido da realização de consulta livre, prévia e informada, nos termos da Convenção nº 169 da Organização Internacional do Trabalho (OIT)", diz o trecho firmado em Belém.
O documento foi assinado pelos ministros Guilherme Boulos, da Secretaria-Geral da Presidência da República; Silvio Costa Filho, de Portos e Aeroportos; e Sônia Guajajara, dos Povos Indígena e esbarra em reivindicações antigas dos povos originários.
Há meses, lideranças indígenas questionam a ordem dos fatores adotada pelo governo federal. "Para ter consulta, primeiro é preciso revogar o decreto. É consulta prévia, ou seja, tem que ser antes. Mas o decreto foi assinado primeiro", apontou a liderança Alessandra Munduruku em entrevista à Agência Pública durante a COP30.
