O presidente dos Estados Unidos, Donald Trump, afirmou na noite desta sexta-feira, 20, que assinou uma ordem que impõe uma taxa de importação de 10% para todos os países após a Suprema Corte decidir que o tarifaço promovido pelo governo é ilegal. A Casa Branca também publicou uma ordem executiva que encerra parte do tarifaço, seguindo a decisão do Judiciário.
"É uma grande honra ter acabado de assinar, do Salão Oval, uma Tarifa Global de 10% para todos os países, que entrará em vigor quase imediatamente. Obrigado pela atenção a este assunto! PRESIDENTE DONALD J. TRUMP", escreveu o republicano na rede Truth Social.
Segundo a Casa Branca, a ordem assinada por Trump impõe a tarifa de 10% por um período de 150 dias. Ela entrará em vigor no dia 24 de fevereiro, próxima terça-feira, às 2h01 (no horário de Brasília).
Nem todos os produtos importados pelos EUA serão impactados pela taxa, de acordo com o governo americano. Ficam excluídos, por exemplo, alguns minerais críticos, fertilizantes, produtos agrícolas como carne bovina, tomates e laranjas, produtos farmacêuticos, produtos eletrônicos e veículos. Também ficam de fora produtos que já estão com sobretaxa e que não foram impactados pela decisão da Suprema Corte que considerou o tarifaço ilegal.
Reação de Trump
Trump anunciou a nova medida na tarde desta sexta, poucas horas após a decisão da Suprema Corte. Segundo o presidente americano, a taxa global de 10% se somará às tarifas já em vigor.
"Hoje, assinarei um decreto para impor uma tarifa global de 10% sob a Seção 122, além das nossas tarifas normais já em vigor", disse Trump. Ele também afirmou que todas as tarifas de segurança nacional sob a Seção 301 permanecem em vigor e que diversas investigações serão iniciadas.
Ao longo da fala, Trump também prometeu "alternativas" às tarifas. Mais cedo, fontes ouvidas pela agência de notícias Reuters já haviam citado que o governo já havia se preparado para este tipo de decisão, com planos alternativos para invocar prerrogativas previstas em leis vigentes.
