O primeiro-ministro da Groenlândia, Jens-Frederik Nielsen, respondeu ao presidente dos EUA, Donald Trump, com um "não, obrigado" sobre o envio de um navio-hospital americano "para cuidar" da população da ilha. Por meio do Truth Social, Trump disse no sábado, 21, que estava a caminho do território ártico um navio carregado de suprimentos médicos porque "muitas pessoas na ilha estão doentes" e "não estão recebendo os cuidados necessários". O político da Groenlândia rebateu o presidente americano dizendo que ele usa as redes para "declarações aleatórias", em vez de procurar as autoridades locais para conversar. "Aqui não é como nos Estados Unidos, onde custa dinheiro para ir ao médico", escreveu ele em rede social.
O ministro da Defesa da Dinamarca, Troels Lund Poulsen, também se posicionou em entrevista à emissora dinamarquesa DR: "A população da Groenlândia recebe a atenção à saúde de que necessita. Ela a recebe na Groenlândia e, se for necessário um tratamento específico, o recebe na Dinamarca. Portanto, não é necessária uma iniciativa sanitária especial na Groenlândia".
