"Não se mostrou cooperativo", diz PM sobre homem morto em confronto em Esmeraldas
O capitão Fábio Júlio, subcomandante da 6ª Cia Ind, contou que após uma denúncia anônima, os militares foram até o local onde Papa estaria escondido. "No local, ele manifestou uma intenção clara de que não se entregaria. Ele estava de posse de uma foice e tinha um volume na cintura, tudo indicando que não estava com ânimo de se entregar, de ser cooperativo. Em legítima defesa, os militares dispararam, de acordo com manuais da instituição e deram o suporte para o individuo", contou. Ambulâncias do Hospital 25 de Maio foram acionadas, mas o óbito do mecânico foi acionado ainda no local do confronto.O subcomandante explicou que o suspeito ficou em uma espécie de casa abandonada no meio de um matagal na região de Formiga. Ele pernoitou no local no dia do crime, mas ao ver a chegada policial no sábado (21/2), saiu em uma caminhonete Mitsubishi L200, que abandonou em uma estrada vicinal após ser cercado pelas viaturas. "Ele lançou o veículo contra os policiais, mostrando que não estava cooperativo de se entregar", lembrou o policial.
"A gente presume que, como ele conhece muito a área, se valeu desse conhecimento, conhecia muito a geografia do local, por isso teve sucesso momentâneo de fuga, mas conseguimos dar a resposta", disse o capitão Fábio Júlio. Nesse primeiro momento, a Polícia Militar descarta a hipótese de que Papa foi ajudado por outras pessoas.
Ao final do confronto, os militares envolvidos na ocorrência foram encaminhas para a sede policial, onde foram ouvidos e liberados. A vítima do ataque permanece internada no hospital, mas não corre risco de morte.
