Aracoiaba: Irmão de Safadão afastado e vice assume Prefeitura
A vice-prefeita de Aracoiaba, Selma Bezerra (PP), foi empossada prefeita nesta segunda-feira, 23, pela Câmara Municipal do município distante 75 quilômetros de Fortaleza.
A posse ocorre após o Ministério Público Eleitoral (MPE) cobrar ao Legislativo de Aracoiaba a extinção do mandato do prefeito Wellington Silva de Oliveira (PP), conhecido como Edim e irmão do cantor Wesley Safadão.
Em trecho de discurso de posse compartilhado nas redes sociais, Selma afirmou que, "se houver alguma alteração", retornará para o posto de vice-prefeita.
"Mas também quero dizer que, para mim, é uma honra ser prefeita de Aracoiaba. Quero tranquilizar toda a população e dizer que as coisas irão continuar normalmente com dedicação e planejamento. Não haverá desconfianças e nem conflitos. Todos me conhecem e sabem do meu caráter", ressaltou.

Edim está com direitos políticos suspensos devido a uma condenação definitiva por estelionato. A suspensão foi automática após a condenação transitar em julgado, ou seja, não caber mais recursos.
A Promotoria Eleitoral da 67ª zona acionou o presidente do Legislativo de Aracoiaba, vereador Pedro Campêlo (PP), para que decretasse a anulação do mandato do prefeito.
De acordo com o entendimento do Tribunal Superior Eleitoral (TSE), uma vez ocorrida a diplomação, a responsabilidade por determinar a cassação recai exclusivamente sobre o chefe da Câmara, cessando a competência da Justiça Eleitoral.
Caso ignorasse a determinação, o vereador ficaria sujeito a responder por improbidade administrativa, já que a lei o obriga a declarar a extinção do cargo nestas circunstâncias.
A notificação foi entregue na última sexta-feira, 20, e a Câmara de Aracoiaba tinha até 48 horas para comunicar à Promotoria e à Justiça Eleitoral que as exigências legais foram atendidas.
O MPE aguardava o comunicado formal do cumprimento da lei para dar seguimento ao processo de sucessão, que prevê a posse da vice-prefeita após a declaração de extinção do mandato titular.
