O candidato presidencial Flávio Bolsonaro nega ter declarado arrependimento "por assinar a CPI do Banco Master ou qualquer outra comissão de inquérito". Segundo nota divulgada por sua assessoria, "ele afirmou, inclusive, que assinaria quantas CPIs fossem necessárias para investigar qualquer ministro do Supremo Tribunal Federal (STF) que possa ter cometido qualquer irregularidade".
Para legitimar um pedido de CPI no Senado bastam 27 assinaturas. Flávio Bolsonaro foi o 29º entre 36 senadores que apoiaram a ideia de investigação parlamentar específica sobre a fraude bancária bilionária. Depois, no entanto, lamentou publicamente a requisição da CP, que subscreveu. Alegou que seria "ilegal", e acrescentou o argumento insólito de possível ameaça: nas palavras dele, a ideia da CPI do Master surgiu "para me sacanear".
Não esclareceu como um requerimento de CPI no Senado possa "sacanear" a sua ou qualquer outra candidatura, sobretudo, se assinou pedido com outros 35 senadores — alguns reconhecidos aliados e entusiastas da sua candidatura à presidência da República pelo Partido Liberal.
Não se sabe se, depois da subscrição do requerimento, o senador percebeu alguma coisa eventualmente incômoda.
