Presidente dos Estados Unidos, Donald Trump afirmou neste sábado que, além dos norte-americanos, "muitos países" enviarão navios de guerra para manter o Estreito de Ormuz aberto à navegação.
Trump não citou, no entanto, quais seriam esses países, mas disse que "esperançosamente" China, França, Japão, Coreia do Sul, Reino Unido e outros enviem navios para a região.
"Muitos países, especialmente aqueles afetados pela tentativa do Irã de fechar o Estreito de Ormuz, enviarão navios de guerra, em conjunto com os Estados Unidos, para manter o estreito aberto e seguro", disse o republicano em uma publicação nas redes sociais.
A redução do tráfego no Estreito de Ormuz ocorre após as autoridades iranianas anunciarem, na semana passada, o fechamento da rota marítima em retaliação aos ataques dos Estados Unidos e Israel, alertando que embarcações que tentassem passar seriam incendiadas.
