O presidente dos Estados Unidos, Donald Trump (Partido Republicano), usou a sua rede social neste sábado (14.mar.2026) para pedir que as nações dependentes do petróleo do Oriente Médio assumam a responsabilidade pela segurança no estreito de Ormuz.
Trump disse que a proteção da rota deve ser um esforço conjunto entre os países que utilizam a logística da região. O norte-americano afirmou que Washington oferecerá apoio às nações.
"Os Estados Unidos da América derrotaram e destruíram completamente o Irã, militarmente, economicamente e em todos os outros aspectos, mas os países do mundo que recebem petróleo através do Estreito de Ormuz devem cuidar dessa passagem, e nós ajudaremos — MUITO!", publicou o republicano na Truth Social.
O presidente norte-americano citou China, França, Japão, Coreia do Sul e Reino Unido como economias que devem enviar navios de guerra para a área.
Em tom de ameaça, o chefe do Executivo norte-americano afirmou também que os EUA poderão bombardear a costa iraniana e a infraestrutura petrolífera da ilha de Kharg –terminal responsável por cerca de 90% das exportações do país— caso as investidas contra embarcações não sejam interrompidas.
O estreito de Ormuz concentra 20% do tráfego mundial de petróleo e gás natural liquefeito e enfrenta redução do fluxo marítimo e alta nos preços dos combustíveis desde o início do conflito entre EUA, Israel e Irã em 28 de fevereiro.
