Segundo relatos de vizinhos, o muro já apresentava sinais de que poderia desabar. Estalos e barulhos incomuns foram percebidos ao longo do dia, o que levou moradores a alertarem quem passava pela via e a interromperem o trânsito no local.

A estrutura era o muro de arrimo de uma construção que ficava acima do nível da rua. O imóvel principal no terreno não foi atingido pelo desmoronamento. Casas próximas também chegaram a ser desocupadas por precaução.
Vídeos gravados por moradores mostram o momento da queda da estrutura, enquanto pessoas acompanham a cena à distância. Nas imagens também é possível ouvir os latidos de um cachorro que estava no imóvel. O animal chegou a ser retirado da casa, mas voltou antes do desabamento. De acordo com vizinhos, ele foi atingido pelos destroços, mas não se feriu.
Após o incidente, agentes da prefeitura estiveram no local e isolaram a área. Segundo moradores, o entulho que ainda bloqueia a rua deve ser removido nas próximas horas. A informação passada aos moradores é que a retirada, porém, depende da liberação de máquinas, que estão sendo usadas em outros pontos da cidade afetados por alagamentos
Os bombeiros informaram que não foram acionados para a ocorrência.
