Três turistas israelenses, com idades entre 21 e 22 anos, foram conduzidos pela Polícia Militar à Delegacia Territorial de Itacaré, no sul da Bahia, no sábado, 14, após um conflito durante uma manifestação pró-Palestina realizada na praça da Pituba. O trio foi liberado no mesmo dia, após prestar depoimento.
Segundo a Polícia Civil, os três foram levados à unidade policial por desacato e resistência durante a abordagem dos agentes. A corporação informou que os visitantes entraram em atrito com um grupo que protestava contra a guerra em Gaza e, ao serem abordados pela PM, reagiram de forma hostil. Os nomes dos envolvidos não foram divulgados.
O protesto e a divisão na cidade
Naquele sábado, duas manifestações ocorreram em pontos distintos de Itacaré com posições opostas. Na região central, comerciantes, taxistas e trabalhadores locais se reuniram em defesa da presença de estrangeiros no município — ato que, segundo a PM, transcorreu sem incidentes.
Na praça da Pituba, o protesto tinha caráter contrário à presença dos turistas e de solidariedade à causa palestina. Foi nesse segundo ato que o tumulto com os israelenses teve lugar.
A Polícia Militar afirmou, em nota, que atuou para garantir a ordem pública durante as manifestações nos diferentes pontos da cidade.
Uma vila de pescadores transformada
Itacaré passou por uma mudança profunda nas últimas décadas. Até o fim dos anos 1990, era um povoado de pescadores praticamente sem acesso por terra. A pavimentação da estrada que liga o município a Ilhéus abriu o caminho para os primeiros visitantes, em sua maioria surfistas atraídos pelas ondas da região.
Com o tempo, a cidade passou a receber investidores do setor hoteleiro de alto padrão e consolidou-se como destino para viajantes de perfis variados. Entre eles, destaca-se o contingente de israelenses que percorrem a América do Sul após cumprir o serviço militar obrigatório.
Segundo o site Muchiler, plataforma comunitária voltada a viajantes de Israel, aproximadamente 14 mil israelenses estiveram em Itacaré nos cinco meses anteriores ao episódio. O volume expressivo de visitantes de uma mesma origem tem gerado tensões com parte da população local.
