O Diário Oficial do Estado do Amazonas oficializou, em decreto assinado no dia 11 de março de 2026, a exclusão definitiva de Galeno Edmilson de Souza Jales das fileiras da Polícia Militar. O ex-oficial, que chegou a ocupar o posto de Major, era o responsável pelo Núcleo Prisional da Polícia Militar do Amazonas (PMAM) quando o local se tornou palco de um escândalo de fugas e saídas irregulares de detentos militares.
O documento assinado pelo governador Wilson Lima encerra a trajetória de Galeno na corporação. A decisão baseia-se em pareceres de 2022, da Procuradoria Geral do Estado (PGE-AM) e em recomendações do Comando-Geral da PM, que já apontavam para a necessidade de exclusão do oficial por desvio de conduta e quebra de hierarquia.
A medida reverte uma condição de sub judice que mantinha o militar no quadro de oficiais desde 2017 e fundamenta-se no processo administrativo n.º 01.01.022103.002627/2023-37.

A queda de Galeno Edmilson de Souza Jales começou após uma revista de rotina no presídio da Polícia Militar, no bairro Monte das Oliveiras, em Manaus. Ao mandar prender Galeno, o juiz Luís Alberto Albuquerque afirmou que o caso revoltou a sociedade e manchou a imagem da Polícia Militar. Para o magistrado, o problema não era um erro isolado de soldados, mas sim uma falha que vinha de quem mandava no presídio. O juiz disse que essa "bagunça" já acontecia há muito tempo e era de responsabilidade dos chefes.
