O caso mobilizou familiares, amigos e moradores da região. Nesta quinta, um grupo realizou um protesto na avenida Paralela, em Salvador, cobrando respostas das autoridades. A polícia investiga a hipótese de que a adolescente tenha sido morta a mando de um traficante preso por violência doméstica.

Segundo o delegado Moisés Damasceno, o suspeito teria ordenado o crime por acreditar que foi denunciado pela jovem. "Eles teriam decretado a morte dela. Ninguém sabe se o crime aconteceu ali mesmo ou se a levaram para outro local", afirmou. Imagens de câmeras mostram Thamiris chegando ao ponto onde teria ocorrido a emboscada, sem registro de saída.

Outros envolvidos ainda são procurados. Após a prisão, moradores destruíram parte da casa do suspeito, que era vizinho da vítima, e houve ameaças contra ele. O governador da Bahia, Jerônimo Rodrigues (PT), lamentou o caso e afirmou: "Determinei prioridade ao caso (…) Infelizmente, tivemos esse desfecho lamentável", reforçando o compromisso com a investigação.
