O caso veio à tona depois que um homem procurou o MPSC relatando ter passado dez dias no espaço, onde, segundo ele, as condições eram insalubres. O denunciante afirma que, mesmo pagando R$ 700 para permanecer no local, vivia em meio a lixo, com presença de aranhas e lesmas, além de enfrentar precariedade na alimentação e na higiene.
A investigação aponta que a situação pode ser ainda mais grave. Conforme o Ministério Público, a mulher responsável pelo asilo é suspeita de reter cartões bancários de idosos e realizar movimentações financeiras indevidas, apropriando-se do dinheiro das vítimas. Além disso, há indícios de que os moradores tinham a liberdade restringida, o que agrava as possíveis violações.
A partir da denúncia, a 1ª Promotoria de Justiça da Comarca de Caçador instaurou um inquérito civil e acionou órgãos como a Secretaria Municipal de Assistência Social, a Vigilância Sanitária, o Conselho Municipal do Idoso e a Polícia Civil. Após vistoria no local, a polícia efetuou a prisão em flagrante da responsável.
