As declarações foram proferidas durante um evento em Sorocaba (SP), no momento em que o petista analisava a conjuntura geopolítica.

"O mundo está difícil, o Trump está aí ameaçando todo mundo. O Trump não sabe o que é um pernambucano, senão ele não vai fazer ameaça nunca aqui", declarou Lula, citando Virgulino Ferreira da Silva. "Se ele soubesse da minha descendência com Lampião, ele tomaria muito cuidado. Se ele soubesse o que é um nordestino nervoso, ele não brigaria com o Brasil".

A afirmação ocorre em meio à guerra envolvendo EUA e Irã. Nesta sexta, Trump voltou a elevar o tom contra Teerã e ameaçou reagir caso as conversas fracassem, enquanto o Irã impôs condições para avançar no diálogo. Representantes dos dois países se reúnem a partir deste sábado 11, no Paquistão, para discutir o fim da guerra.

Em janeiro, Lula já havia mencionado o "parentesco com Lampião" ao citar o multilateralismo.

Durante seu discurso nesta sexta-feira, o petista também voltou a dizer que o Brasil não tem interesse em se envolver nos conflitos e afirmou que aqueles que desejam a guerra devem ir para o "outro lado do mundo". "De qualquer forma, nós não queremos guerra, queremos paz. Nós queremos ter acesso à cultura, passear, estudar, namorar, brincar. Nós só queremos coisa boa."
