Apesar das lesões, exames preliminares descartaram sinais de violência sexual.
Devido ao quadro de desidratação da bebê, a soldado Dieny Helem, que atuava na ocorrência e tem uma filha de 9 meses, foi autorizada a amamentar a recém-nascida.
"A bebê foi encontrada enrolada na coberta. Ela estava sujinha, morrendo de fome. Eu amamentei. Foi extremamente comovente, como sou mãe recente, não tem como não se emocionar. Além do lado de policial, tem o lado materno. Eu não poderia ser indiferente diante disso, ela estava com muita fome, apática", contou a militar.
Após receber os primeiros socorros, o bebê ficou sob a responsabilidade do Conselho Tutelar da 3ª Seção, no bairro Jardim das Rosas. Os pais da criança já foram identificados e presos. As circunstâncias do abandono serão investigadas.
