Belo Horizonte expands vaccination sites for childhood bronchiolitis

2 sources · 23 Apr 2026

The Belo Horizonte City Hall announced on Wednesday (22/4) that it expanded vaccination sites against bronchiolitis for babies and children. In addition to the Center of Reference in Special Immunobiologicals (CRIE), nine other health units began offering the immunization. More than 1,200 doses have been administered in the capital since January.

Bronchiolitis is a respiratory disease that affects children under two years old, characterized by inflammation of the bronchioles, which are small airways in the lungs. The main agent responsible for the disease is Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV), responsible for up to 80% of cases.
