Zambelli was convicted by the STF's First Panel in May 2025 to 10 years in prison under closed regime in Criminal Case 2428, for invading the National Council of Justice system and ideological falsification. The conviction was unanimous, with votes from ministers Alexandre de Moraes (rapporteur), Flávio Dino, Cristiano Zanin, Cármen Lúcia and Luiz Fux.

Lapresse

"La Corte di Cassazione ha annullato senza rinvio la sentenza della Corte d'Appello di Roma che, lo scorso marzo, aveva accolto la richiesta del Brasile di estradare l'ex deputata federale"

The reasoning behind the Court of Cassation's decision has not yet been publicly disclosed. Eduardo Bolsonaro classified the release as "another defeat for Alexandre de Moraes" and claimed it would be the minister's "4th consecutive defeat" "outside Brazilian jurisdiction."
