Eduardo Bolsonaro (PL-SP) admitted on Friday (15) to having signed a contract as executive producer of the film "Dark Horse" about Jair Bolsonaro's life, less than 24 hours after denying on social media any management role in the project. According to documents revealed by The Intercept Brasil website, the former congressman digitally signed on January 30, 2024 a contract with American company GoUp Entertainment that gave him responsibilities over strategic financing, preparation of documentation for investors and identification of resources including credits, fiscal incentives and sponsorships.

The version change occurred after the disclosure of contracts that contradicted Eduardo's public statements. In a video posted on social media, he claimed to have invested R$ 350 thousand converted to US$ 50 thousand to "guarantee the contract with a Hollywood director" when the film "was still a dream." According to Eduardo, the production company suggested including him as executive director due to the financial risk assumed, but he would have left the function when major investors emerged.

The case is part of a broader investigation into the film's financing, which involves banker Daniel Vorcaro, owner of Banco Master. Senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ) admitted to having negotiated with Vorcaro a contribution of R$ 134 million for the project, of which R$ 61 million were effectively transferred. The Federal Police is investigating whether part of the resources destined for the film would have funded Eduardo's expenses in the United States, a hypothesis denied by the Bolsonaro brothers.

The film "Dark Horse" is in post-production, directed by Cyrus Nowrasteh and starring Jim Caviezel as Jair Bolsonaro, with release scheduled for September 2026. Production company GoUp Entertainment denied having received resources from Vorcaro, claiming to work only with foreign investments without connection to the banker, according to a statement by Karina Ferreira da Gama, managing partner of the company.

"Caviezel will star as Jair Bolsonaro, former president of Brazil and currently imprisoned, in the upcoming biopic "Dark Horse." In September 2025, Bolsonaro was sentenced to 27 years and 3 months in prison for plotting a coup, although he and his supporters firmly deny the allegations and have compared his treatment to the "lawfare" faced by Donald Trump before he was re-elected."
