Lebanese and Israeli Ambassadors Meet in Washington to Negotiate Ceasefire

2 sources · 14 Apr 2026

The Lebanese and Israeli ambassadors to the US are meeting on Tuesday in Washington to discuss a possible ceasefire. Hezbollah leader Naim Qassem called for the meeting to be canceled and stated that his group will continue fighting Israel.

The conflict between Israel and Hezbollah is an offshoot of the war between the US, Israel and Iran that began on February 28. Israeli attacks have already killed at least 2,000 people in Lebanon, according to the Lebanese Ministry of Health, while Hezbollah is a Lebanese extremist group allied with Iran that refuses to negotiate directly with Israel.
