The increase in pediatric beds comes in response to a significant rise in hospitalizations for respiratory diseases, with the hospital recording approximately 53% growth in pediatric care between January and March. As part of response measures, Belo Horizonte declared a state of emergency on April 10, allowing expanded resources and professional hiring.
