Nunes Marques elected TSE president for two-year term

10 sources · 15 Apr 2026

Justice Nunes Marques was elected president of the Superior Electoral Court on Tuesday (14). He will lead the TSE during the October elections and will serve a two-year term. André Mendonça was elected vice-president.

The TSE is Brazil's top electoral court, responsible for organizing and administering the process of choosing elected officials. The presidency of the Electoral Court is always held by one of the three Supreme Court justices in the composition at that time, with the choice made by seniority among the justices who also serve on the STF.
