Municipal teachers in Belo Horizonte approved an indefinite strike starting April 27. The decision was made at an assembly on Thursday (16/4), during a work stoppage. The teachers' union complains of teacher shortages and work overload.
The strike is part of the 2026 Salary Campaign and was motivated by what the union calls a "chronic deficit" of teachers, work overload, and problems in school operations. The Municipal Government stated it signed an agreement with the category last year establishing commitments with effects until this year, including salary adjustment for inflation in 2026.
