Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes ordered Monday (20) that the Ministries of Justice and Foreign Affairs take measures to effectuate the extradition of Carla Zambelli from Italy. The former congresswoman was sentenced by the Supreme Court to 10 years in prison in closed regime for computer device invasion and ideological falsification related to the CNJ.

In a ruling published yesterday, Moraes responded to an official letter from the General Coordination of Extradition and Transfer of Convicted Persons, which requested guarantees about prison conditions demanded by Italian Justice. The minister stated that these guarantees were already sent to MJSP last November and subsequently forwarded to Itamaraty.

The Rome Court of Appeals has already decided favorably for extradition on two occasions, but the defense presented appeals to the Court of Cassation that still await judgment.
