Chamber approves fines for improper waste disposal on public roads

2 sources · 24 Apr 2026

The Chamber of Deputies approved on Thursday (23) bill 580/2022 that creates fines for those who improperly dispose of waste on public roads. The proposal now goes to the Senate for analysis.

The project amends the National Solid Waste Policy, established by Law 12.305/2010, and the Environmental Crimes Law. With this change, irregular waste disposal becomes expressly treated as an infraction subject to fines in both urban and rural areas.
