Your political party can now renegotiate electoral fines over up to 15 years, with a cap of R$ 30,000 per violation — even if the original amount is higher. The Chamber of Deputies approved on Tuesday (19) Bill 4822/2025, authored by Deputy Pedro Lucas (União-MA), which creates a package of benefits for political parties. The text now goes to the Senate. ✓

The bill limits fines for disapproved accounts to R$ 30,000, regardless of the amount owed by the party — currently the penalty is 20% of the irregular amount. It also prohibits seizure or blocking of Party Fund and Special Campaign Financing Fund resources, and authorizes debt installments over up to 180 months (15 years). During electoral semesters, any suspension of transfers or discounts for previous convictions is prohibited. ✓

The vote was symbolic, with broad agreement among government, opposition and Centrão. Only deputies from Novo, Missão and PSOL opposed, such as Kim Kataguiri (Missão-SP) and Adriana Ventura (Novo-SP). "What we're doing here is letting political parties do whatever they want," said Ventura. The text also reduces the deadline for judging party accounts from five to three years and allows using Party Fund resources to pay interest and monetary correction on previous debts. ✓

According to an academic study by TSE, the current distribution of the Party Fund already violates "the constitutional principle of equality," observing that "the same political groups perpetuate themselves in power" and "those with greater purchasing power have more chances of access to political positions." The bill also authorizes automated electoral message broadcasts to previously registered contacts, without constituting mass broadcasting. ✓
